Course Letter grades
A = Your contribution to the field work and final report was exceptional, frequently exceeding expectations. You were proficient in all aspects of the field work: mapping, artifact identification, maintaining survey transects, environmental description, historical context, form completion, and technical writing. You held yourself and others to high standards and remained compassionate and supportive of others throughout the work. You recognized and acted on the needs of the group. You were actively engaged in the learning process by asking questions and often finding your own solutions. In short, you "leaned into" the work as an essential individual and team contributor.
B = Your contribution to the field work and final report was very good, frequently exceeding expectations. You were proficient in most aspects of the field work: mapping, artifact identification, maintaining survey transects, environmental description, historical context, form completion, and technical writing. You held yourself and others to high standards and remained compassionate and supportive of others throughout the work. You recognized and mostly acted on the needs of the group. You were actively engaged in the learning process by asking questions and sometimes finding your own solutions. In short, you did all the work as expected and were an essential individual and team contributor.
C = Your contribution to the field work and final report met expectations. You were proficient in some aspects of the field work: mapping, artifact identification, maintaining survey transects, environmental description, historical context, form completion, and technical writing. You recognized the needs of the group but did not often offer solutions. You recognized and sometimes acted on the needs of the group but mostly you were an individual contributor. You displayed interest in the work but at times you "leaned away" from the work and others.
D and No Credit = You contributions did not meet expectations and the group could not rely on the accuracy of your work or timely contributions.
Pass/Fail = If you are taking the block pass/fail, to receive a "pass" assessment you must meet the expectations for a "C" letter grade.
The addition of a '+' or '-' to a letter grade is a qualitative and holistic assessment of the quality of all learning activities and your effort and engagement.
Missing class days or field work will negatively impact your course grade and may result in receiving "No credit" for the course. See course policies.
