Review questions
Review Questions are designed to strengthen your retention of key information and to reward careful reading and participation in class. Review Questions contain approximately 10 or more questions from the readings, course presentations, discussions, videos, etc. and 10 are offered throughout the semester.
I will design the questions to reflect important topics considered rather than obscure and irrelevant terms or examples, etc. Most questions will require you to think about what you have read, seen, and learned in class. Some questions will be simple and designed to reward you for coming to class and observing what is happening (i.e., "What was the major topic discussed in the video we watched this week?"). The questions will be designed to be relatively easy for those that have done the readings and attended class and difficult for those that have not done the readings, attended class, or worked to understand the information available. The questions will primarily focus on the readings, presentations, and discussions since the previous set of Review Questions. Some questions, however, are "cumulative" in that your knowledge will build throughout the semester and the questions will build on this accumulating understanding. Answering the questions without grammatical errors is expected.
You may answer the questions using any resources you have (e.g., your textbook, class notes, the internet). However, you may not collaborate with other students. This is an opportunity for you to strengthen your knowledge, not a crowd-sourced information sharing activity. Collaboration with other students will be considered a violation of UTA's Honor Code and must be reported.
Before answering Review Questions:
You must read all the information on this UTA Test Taking Tips webpage (click link). There are other helpful links about using Blackboard on this page.
Where do I find the Review Questions?
On the left side of your Blackboard page for this course, find and select the link: "Review Questions, Answer Here."
How do I answer the questions?
The questions will be answered online through Blackboard from Friday at 3 pm until Monday at 10:00 am. The Course Schedule shows when the questions are offered. The questions will be multiple-choice, short answer, maps, or similar and cover the range of topics considered since that last set of Review Questions. Once you begin answering the questions, you will have a limited amount of time to respond to the questions. Blackboard will show you this time before you begin. The time will vary based on the type of questions answered. We will review the questions and answers in class on Mondays.
How do the Review Questions affect my grade? Each set of Review Questions is worth 5 points. Your lowest two scores on the 10 offered Review Questions will be dropped.
What if I have computer trouble while answering the questions?
Computer trouble caused by a failure to follow the instructions on the UTA Test Taking Tips webpage will not qualify you for re-taking Review Questions. Determine the cause of the problem and do your best to solve it yourself. Email me immediately after you encounter the problem but know that it is unlikely I will be able to solve it as most problems are caused by unique issues associated with your computer or internet connection. Do not use the web browser back, forward, refresh buttons, or a wireless internet connection when answering the questions. These actions will likely lock you out of your test.
I have a good reason why I didn't answer the Review Questions! Can I answer the questions after the due date? No, but two of the sets of Review Questions (the lowest) will be dropped. Thus, you wont be penalized if you could not answer every set of Review Questions.
Review Questions cannot be taken after the due date.
