Field trip equipment list:  PRINT THIS OUT AND USE AS A CHECKLIST

Best to download all articles/chapters you will need prior to leaving for the field work. 
Field notebook, pencil, eraser

laptop computer 
flashlight or head lamp

soap
deodorant
toothpaste/brush

Camera/phone/charger
lip balm
whistle, for survey crews (don't buy; bring if you have)

sunglasses (optional)
hat with bill - for sun protection
​warm hat - for cold
sleep clothes/pajamas
socks (some non-cotton)
bag for dirty clothes (optional)
gloves/mittens (optional)
shirts, long and short sleeved (a few non-cotton)
money, in case something is needed from town
insurance card
cards, games, what else to do for fun?
binoculars (optional)
day pack for field work
hot drink mug/cup
jacket (warm, plus something like a wind breaker --- it's very windy in the SLV)
raingear (tops/bottoms)
boots or comfortable walking shoes, closed toe (to protect feet; lots of Prickly Pear Cactus in some places): Boots required for field work
long underwear (for warmth)
regular underwear (for warmth)
long-sleeved shirts (some non-cotton)
2 - 1 liter water bottles
toilet paper

bandana (optional)
personal first aid kit
prescription medicine, as needed (e.g., epipen, etc.)
over-the-counter medicines (allergies, ibuprofen)
tent (check for ground cloth, stakes, rain fly) 

sleeping bag - in waterproof stuff sack or trash bag 
sleeping pad (warmer and softer than the ground!)
pillow (there are pillows, sheets, and towels at the Baca Lodges and Townhouses. For camping, you can use a small stuff sack with clean clothes or a soft jacket or bring a small pillow).

*** notify family you'll be out of touch during many parts of the trip (no cell service)
